Research Agenda

IMG_9332.jpeg

My research agenda is anchored in the intersection of urban education and the profound human need for belonging. I investigate how identity, values, and systemic structures converge to either foster or obstruct the professional development of educators.

Belonging & Equity

Investigating how African American identity and language shape teacher preparation and classroom belonging.

Urban Education

Exploring the science of reading through culturally responsive lenses within diverse urban school environments.

Internal Architecture

Developing the Internal Architecture Gap (IAG) framework to address the alignment between identity and assignment.

The Internal Architecture Gap

A framework for understanding the structural alignment of identity, values, and systems before external assignment. It is the intellectual architecture that makes belonging possible.

The Structural Alignment

When identity and values are out of alignment, systems fail. The Internal Architecture Gap (IAG) framework identifies the structural disconnect between the leader's internal formation and the external systems they are tasked with managing.

Three Rooms, One Architecture

Whether in the classroom, the church, or the boardroom, the same central question arises: what happens when identity, values, and systems are misaligned? The IAG framework provides a diagnostic tool for leaders to navigate this gap.
